Computational Biology and Biostatistics Summer Research Program
Application Instructions

Summer 2008: May 27-August 1
Application Deadline: February 15, 2008

Computational Biology and Biostatistics (CBB) is one of 5 research areas in the Integrated Biological Sciences Summer Research Program (IBS-SRP) (Other areas are Neurobiology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, and Environmental Biology. These five research programs are woven together in an interdisciplinary learning community through evolutionary theory and the research process.

 

Applications for the Computational Biology and Biostatistics (CBB) Summer
Research Program are submitted through the Integrated Biological Sciences
Summer Research Program (IBS-SRP)

ALL of the Biological Sciences summer research programs, including CBB, will have access to these materials. If you are applying to more than one of the programs, you need to SUBMIT ONLY ONE ELECTRONIC COPY of each of the items listed below.

ON-LINE APPLICATION
UW- Madison Summer Research Opportunities Program for Undergraduates (SROP)

The on-line form is a common form used for applying to several summer research programs (SROP) available at UW-Madison. After reading the instructions on the first screen you will be required to first enter a valid email address and a password for correspondence. Your account information and further directions will then be emailed to the address specified. If you forget your password, you can request that it be sent to you at the email address you have entered.

On the "Programs of Interest" application screen you will be asked to indicate the program to which you wish to apply. Select IBS-SRP: Computational Biology and Biostatistics. After completing the online application you will receive a message instructing you further on the additional required materials you see below.

Letters of Recommendation

Required, are two Letters of Recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your academic abilities and potential to do research. You will be asked to provide names and e-mail addresses for two people who will compose letters for you. Recommenders will receive an e-mail with instructions for submitting their letters.submitting their letters.

Transcripts

Instructions for submitting an electronic version of your college level academic transcript are included in the on-line application. IN ADDITION, please arrange to have an official hard copy set of transcripts mailed to:

List of Relevant Courses

Please also email a list of the mathematics, statistics and computer science college courses you have taken. For each course listed, please include the year it was taken and the grade received.
