Meng Chen (Christina Kendziorski, advisor) won a 2006 ENAR student travel award for her paper "Interval Mapping for Expression Quantitative Trait Loci".

Fan Lu (Grace Wahba, advisor) won a 2006 ENAR student travel award for his paper "A Framework for Kernel Regularization with Application to Protein Clustering".

Rui Song (Michael Kosorok, advisor) won a 2006 ENAR student travel award for her paper "A Sample Size Formula for Recurrent Events Data Using Robust Log-rank Statistics".

Xiaodan Wei (Rick Chappell, advisor) won a 2006 ENAR student travel award for her paper "A Test for Non-inferiority with a Mixed Multiplicative / Additive Null Hypothesis".

Fan Lu (Grace Wahba, advisor) is a winner of the the ASA Section on Statistical Computing 2006 Student Paper Competition, for his paper "Kernel Reglarization and Dimension Reduction"

Xiaodan Wei (advisor Rick Chappell), Society for Clinical Trials Student Scholarship Award, and winner of Thomas Chalmers award for best paper.

John Carew (advisors Grace Wahba and Beth Meyerand): Student travel award to present Carew, Dalal, Wahba, and Fain, "Estimating Arterial Wall Shear Stress " at ISMRM12, Kyoto, Japan, 2004.

Deepayan Sarkar (Advisor Douglas Bates) ASA Chambers Award, 2004: This award is made possible by a donation from Dr. John M. Chambers. The award is given to students with outstanding contributions to statistical software.

Ming Yuan (Advisors Grace Wahba and Yi Lin, paper co-written by Christina Kendziorski) has won the ENAR John Van Ryzin Student Paper Award, 2004: "Hidden Markov Models for Microarray Time Course Data in Multiple Biological Conditions."

Stephen Stanhope (Michael Newton-Advisor): paper entitled ``Evolution Strategies for Multivariate-to-Anything Partially Specified Random Vector Generation'' has been accepted for presentation at the 2004 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation and for publication in the conference proceedings published annually by IEEE. Yoonkyung Lee (Supervisor Grace Wahba): Best Student Poster award at the 2003 Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society, Satellite Meteorology and Oceanography Session for the paper "Classification of Satellite Radiance Data by Multicategory Support Vector Machines". Paper authored by Yoonkyung Lee, Grace Wahba and Steven A. Ackerman.
