Medical Informatics Program

Education
UW Madison, student studying on Memorial Union Terrace There are currently three options for those interested in Medical Informatics training. The Department of Computer Sciences offers both M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Computer Sciences, with courses and faculty specialties in biomedical informatics. The Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics also administers two certificate programs in bioinformatics.

Methodological Research

Informatics faculty have independent research portfolios with peer-reviewed funding through NCI, NSF, DOD and other agencies. Some examples include Link Discovery and Pattern Learning, Advice-Taking Machine Learners, Biomedical Text Mining, and Machine Learning with Rich Data Sources and Interrelated Tasks.
