On the 7th floor of Gould-Simpson building at the
University of Arizona, Tucson
(taken by Shangu Kim on 20 May 2003) The Department of Computer Science spreads out between the 7th and 9th floors of 10-story Gould-Simpson building, which is the tallest on the campus as of 31 Dec 2008. The building also houses the College of Science and Dean's office on the top floor. I wore a frameless eyeglasses (and hence driving a car was a lot easer back then, I mean, with eyeglasses) and dyed my hair.

Measuring his height while eating popcorns at the
Schuster's Playtime Farm,
Deerfield, Wisconsin
(taken by Hiery Hwang on 18 October 2008) IFC or International Friendship Center in Madison, Wisconsin, hosts a series of events through out the whole year to bring people from all over the world together, and I went to the farm as one of these events. I had no idea that the farm had an amazing corn maze until I got out of it. We also had a bonfire at the night. No one noticed (because everyone was sitting around the fire except me) but I saw a meteor falling toward the ground at that night (and I wished my wish). By the bye if you want to see lots of meteors, I strongly recommend you go to Bisbee, Arizona.

A smiling Jack O'Lantern that I made on a Holloween day (taken on the Holloween night of year 2008) The theme of this Jack O'Lantern is the Joker as in the film The Dark Knight (2008). Oh, hee-hee, aha. Ha, ooh, hee, ha-ha, ha-ha.

Rubbing the nose of the bronze badger statue in front of the
Wisconsin governor's office
in the Wisconsin State Capitol,
Madison, Wisconsin
(taken by Hiery Hwang on 22 November 2008) Badger is the state animal of Wisconsin, and the mascot of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I got to sit on one of the chairs in the governor's office. The guide told us that the worth of the capitol building is over a billion. The guided tour of the state capitol is free, and no reservation is required. More information can be found here. But in all honesty, there is really nothing to see. Sorry. For your information, the state bird of Wisconsin is American robin, the state fish is muskellunge, and the state flower is wood violet. You know what? Check this out.

Reading a novel in his favorite aunt's house,
Palisades Park, New Jersey
(taken by Sinae Park on the Christmas eve of year 2008) My favorite aunt, who is the youngest among my mother's siblings, is the only relative that I have in the United States. She was rightfully pissed off at me because I have never visited her -- did I mention that she is my favorite? -- since I came here to the States. That is about a decade. Anyway, so I went to see her during the Christmas season because she really is my favorite. I got to hang out with my folks: my aunt, my uncle (her husband), her kids, my uncle's brother's (my aunt's brother-in-law's) daughter, and my aunt's brother's (my mother's brother's) daughter, who took this great picture. Great shot, Sinae! It's blurry but you can see my aunt standing right next to me trying to figure out what Sinae does. The great looking pecan pie was made by my uncle's brother's daughter. And I can tell you this: the pie was bloody delicious. I have no idea know what I was reading. My aunt handed me some Korean novel and I was simply trying to please her. Oh, did you notice that I do not wear eyeglasses any more? |
