Quasi linkage in the CEPH data

In order to look for possible quasi linkage in the CEPH data, we estimated the male and female recombination fractions for all pairs of markers from different chromosomes using the eight CEPH families 1331, 1332, 1347, 1362, 1413, 1416, 884 and 102, and calculated the LOD score testing the hypothesis that r(male) = r(female) = 0.5.

Eight pairs of markers gave LOD scores above 6. While these results may be interesting, they could reasonably be ascribed to chance.
